OSC Statement on National Police Week 2026
May 13, 2026
WASHINGTON, D.C./May 13, 2026 – In recognition of National Police Week 2026, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC) honors the bravery, professionalism, and service of law enforcement officers nationwide and remembers those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
Observed annually since 1962, National Police Week provides an opportunity to recognize the sacrifices made by officers, their families, and the communities they serve.
“Law enforcement officers take on extraordinary responsibilities in service to the American people,” said Senior Counsel Charles Baldis. “OSC is proud to recognize the dedication of the officers who work every day to protect our communities, enforce the law, and respond in moments of crisis. We also pause to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.”
OSC works to protect federal employees, including federal law enforcement officers, from prohibited personnel practices and retaliation for whistleblowing. OSC also provides a secure channel for reporting wrongdoing, including substantial and specific dangers to public health or safety.
